Historically the scent of lavender is very important. The herb has a history that can be traced back more than 2,500 years. The Egyptians used it when they were preserving mummies, the Romans felt that bathing in lavender was a good way to ward off biting insects, and during the 17th century the use of lavender was believe to help ward of illness and disease.
